Why you should go

This shrine holds roughly 40% of all armor and swords in Japan designated as National Treasures or Important Cultural Properties. Warriors from the Taira and Minamoto clans donated their weapons here before battle.

Ōyamazumi, the god enshrined here, is considered the elder brother of Amaterasu (the sun goddess) and Susanoo, making this a shrine to one of Japan's most powerful mountain, sea, and war deities.
