Motoyamaji is temple No. 70 of the Shikoku Pilgrimage, a Kōyasan Shingon Buddhist temple in Mitoyo, Kagawa. Founded in 807 by Kūkai, it features a National Treasure main hall (rebuilt 1300) and one of only four five-storied pagodas on the pilgrimage route.

Only four temples on the entire 88-temple Shikoku Pilgrimage have five-storied pagodas. Motoyama-ji's pagoda was rebuilt in 1910 after the original from 950 AD suffered severe damage.
