Abaka Kasuga Jinja is the only shrine in the Ichijodani valley to survive from the days of the Asakura lords, who prayed here for victory. Founded in 1068 to guard the north-east of the capital, it enshrines the four Kasuga deities. Its main hall, worship hall, Takidono shrine and cedar grove are Fukui city cultural properties.
