Kobo Daishi carved a Jizo statue here after praying for a woman in difficult labor. Pregnant women still visit the Koyasu Jizodo to pray for safe delivery, and parents honor babies who passed away.
The temple's water basin is supported by a carved Amanojaku, an evil demon from Japanese folklore. This unusual choice transforms a malevolent spirit into a humble servant of the temple.
