If you are coming by car, there is a free parking lot, and the area is usually quiet on weekdays with relatively few visitors. The shrine sits near the Uji River and is easy to pair with nearby sightseeing, but the grounds themselves are calm and uncrowded.
The main hall is a National Treasure, and the site is known for its large red torii, several subsidiary shrines, and the connection to rabbit motifs. You can also find goshuin and rabbit-shaped omikuji. The buildings and wooded precincts are best enjoyed at a slow pace.
