Visit on the first Friday of each month if you enjoy browsing secondhand goods and antiques, as the shrine transforms into a lively flea market with 30-40 vendors selling everything from vintage clothing to household items at bargain prices.
Buy a geisha-shaped ema plaque if you're praying for personal beauty, then draw in the face yourself before hanging it at the shrine, which is a unique local custom you won't find at other temples.
Arrive early in the morning on weekdays to have a quieter experience and better access to the love sanctuary statue of Ohatsu and Tokubei without navigating crowds of couples and tourists.

Plan for a short stop in the middle of Umeda, because this shrine is only a few minutes on foot from Osaka Station, Umeda, and Higashi-Umeda. It is open from 6:00 to 24:00, while the shrine office is open 9:00 to 18:00. The grounds are compact, and weekends or daytime visits can be busy, so earlier in the day is easier if you want a calmer visit.
Inside, you will find the Otsu and Tokubei statue, many ema, and a shrine that is closely tied to Sonezaki Shinju and known for matchmaking and good relationships. The area around it is full of restaurants and shopping streets, but the precinct itself feels quieter than the streets outside.
