Prince Shotoku founded this temple around 1,400 years ago to pray for Emperor Yomei's recovery. A white-haired old man in a gold robe reportedly flew before the prince during construction.
Koon-ji is one of the 88 temples on the Shikoku Pilgrimage, linking it to Japan's famous island-wide Buddhist route.
