You can reach Hozenji by slipping a short distance off Dotonbori or Namba into Hozenji Yokocho, a narrow stone lane lined with lanterns. The temple grounds are open 24 hours, while the amulet and stamp counter is usually open from 10:00 to 18:00.
Expect a small, busy prayer spot centered on the moss-covered Mizukake Fudo, where visitors pour water and quietly pray. It is easy to visit day or night, and evening visits are especially atmospheric. As a temple, you should just clasp your hands in prayer, not do shrine-style bowing and clapping.
