Around thirty statues stand in the inner hall, centred on a set of the Five Wisdom Kings carved in the mid-Heian period, with the Seven Lucky Gods and the Twelve Devas among them.
The ascending dragon on the ceiling, called Daishōryū, took two and a half years to complete and was painted by a nationally designated holder of polychrome-preservation technique.

Goma fire rituals are held five times a day, at 8:00, 9:30, 11:00, 12:30 and 14:00. The 9:30 and 12:30 sittings only go ahead when someone has requested a prayer, and there is no 8:00 sitting on the 3rd of each month.
Each ritual lasts about thirty minutes and needs no reservation — you can join any sitting. Groups of ten or more should call 0288-54-0532 in advance so seats can be held.
Entering the hall is free. Requesting a goma prayer starts at 3,000 yen and is arranged at the Gomadō reception desk, which accepts cashless payment.
Sutra copying is offered in the second-floor lecture room, with last reception at 15:00 from April to October and 14:00 from November to March. It costs 1,000 yen, or 800 yen for children, and every implement is provided.
Alongside the 276-character Heart Sutra, a 59-character short sutra is offered for beginners and visitors from abroad, so handwriting speed and skill are not an obstacle.
Times can change, so check the notices page on the temple website before you go. Over New Year, from 1 to 7 January, the first sitting starts at 7:30, and at 7:00 on 3 January.
