Mimuroto-ji is the tenth temple of the Saigoku Kannon pilgrimage. Temple tradition dates its founding to 770 under Emperor Konin, and its Uji hillside precinct is especially known for seasonal gardens and devotion to Kannon.

Goshuin reception pauses between 12:00 and 13:00, so plan your stamp around lunchtime.
The hydrangea garden peaks in June and is lit up on selected evenings; the weeping plums, azaleas and lotus each have their own short season, so check the temple site for the current garden opening.
Mimurodo Station on the Keihan Uji Line is the closest stop, about 15 minutes on foot uphill; Uji Station is a little farther.
