This neighborhood once housed the Edo shogunate's Kinza and Ginza mints where gold and silver coins were produced, and the area's wealthy residents became so fashionable they inspired the term 'Ryogaemachi style.'

Worshippers purify their money at the chozuya fountain before offering it to the gods, and some even bring lottery tickets to have them blessed by the priests for a potential win.
