Ube Jinja's haiden was pictured on Japan's 5-yen banknote circulated from 1899 to 1934.
Takenouchi no Sukune, the deity enshrined here, was reportedly over 360 years old when he vanished on Mt. Ube. Two monoliths behind the shrine mark what's believed to be his burial mound.
