Katte Jinja in the middle of Mount Yoshino is one of the eight guardian shrines of the mountain and the head of the Katte shrines across Japan. Tradition says Prince Oama played the koto here and a heavenly maiden danced, the origin of the court's Gosechi dance, and that Shizuka Gozen danced here after her capture. The main hall burned in 2001 and a new vermilion hall was completed in 2025.
