Kanryu Temple

You’ll find Konryuji just north of Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter, a short walk down from Achi Shrine on Tsurugata-yama. The grounds are quiet and open to visitors, and the temple can be visited in a calm setting, so keep your voice low.

Plan time to look around the main hall, mountain gate, Myoken Hall, Daishi Hall, and bell tower. The gate still shows old spear marks from the 1866 Kurashiki disturbance, and several spots on the higher ground overlook the old town below.
