You can reach these two adjoining shrines easily from Ueno Park, and they are usually calm enough for a quiet visit even on weekends or weekday afternoons. Wear comfortable shoes, because you go down steps and the path includes slopes and stone stairs, and summer visits can bring mosquitoes.
Gojo Tenjinsha is known for health prayers and medicine-related worship, while Hanazono Inari is best known for its red torii tunnel and fox statues. The grounds are compact but photogenic, and many visitors also stop for goshuin, which are reported to be easy to receive.
