Enoshima Jinja

This shrine sits in the center of Enoshima, and you reach the three main halls by climbing steps, so expect a fair amount of walking. It can get crowded, especially around New Year and other busy times, though the paths and grounds are well kept and easy to follow.

You start at Hetsunomiya, then can continue to Nakatsunomiya and Okutsunomiya. The bright vermilion buildings, large rooflines, and wooded approach stand out, and the higher spots give wide views over Sagami Bay. If you want to see the famous Benzaiten statues, the adjacent hozanden charges an admission fee.
