Arikoyama Inari was founded to honor the fox deity Inari, and visitors still leave small votive foxes (kitsune ema) as offerings, creating a unique collection that reflects centuries of devotion.

The shrine's location on a hillside was deliberately chosen because Inari worship traditionally favors elevated spots where foxes were believed to gather and communicate with the divine.
