The annual October festival features elaborately decorated wooden floats (butai) designated as Important Tangible Folk Cultural Properties, parading through streets while musicians perform aboard the moving platforms.
During New Year's, lines of worshippers stretch far down the street as locals queue for their first prayers of the year, making it one of Matsumoto's most crowded spots despite being built relatively recently in 1879.

El santuario se encuentra cerca del Castillo de Matsumoto, a lo largo de la orilla norte del río Metoba, cerca de la calle comercial Nawate. Caminar desde la salida este de la estación de Matsumoto es el enfoque más práctico. Conducir es incómodo ya que el estacionamiento en el lugar es muy pequeño, por lo que un estacionamiento de pago cercano funciona mejor si llegas en coche.
Cuatro deidades están consagradas aquí juntas: Amenominakanushi, Takamimusubi, Kamimusubi y Amaterasu, una combinación que se dice es rara a nivel nacional. Un Shokonsha (santuario conmemorativo) y un pequeño santuario Ebisu se encuentran dentro del recinto, junto con un sub-santuario Mitsumine y un punto de adoración de Ise Jingu.
