The annual October festival features elaborately decorated wooden floats (butai) designated as Important Tangible Folk Cultural Properties, parading through streets while musicians perform aboard the moving platforms.
During New Year's, lines of worshippers stretch far down the street as locals queue for their first prayers of the year, making it one of Matsumoto's most crowded spots despite being built relatively recently in 1879.

The shrine sits near Matsumoto Castle, along the north bank of the Metoba River, close to the Nawate shopping street. Walking from Matsumoto Station's east exit is the most practical approach. Driving is awkward as the on-site parking is very small, so a nearby pay lot works better if you arrive by car.
Four deities are enshrined here together, Amenominakanushi, Takamimusubi, Kamimusubi, and Amaterasu, a combination said to be rare nationwide. A Shokonsha (memorial shrine) and a small Ebisu shrine stand within the grounds, along with a Mitsumine sub-shrine and an Ise Jingu worship point.
