The ocean itself is the sacred body (shintai) of this shrine, making it a 'kannabi.' This rare designation means the Pacific waters are considered the physical manifestation of the enshrined deities.

The worship hall contains 14 intricate carvings of birds and plants, but one panel deliberately shows no bird at all. Locals say the bird 'flew away,' inviting visitors to use their imagination.
