This shrine is usually quiet, but it gets very crowded during the Kanamara Festival, which draws many visitors from Japan and abroad. If you want to watch the mikoshi, people recommend arriving about two hours early, and the roadside opposite the shrine is a good place to see them. Police control starts before the procession, so expect traffic and crowd restrictions.
Outside festival days, the grounds feel open and calm. You can see unusual festival ornaments, donated ema, and metalworking-related features such as an anvil and a furnace in the shrine area. The gift counter has distinctive items, but stock can be irregular, and some special goshuin are only available on weekends.
