While most buildings were lost to fire, the temple gate has survived for 330 years. The Ganzan Daishi statue is only displayed once every 50 years, making it an extremely rare sight.

Combine your temple visit with the adjacent Jindai Botanical Garden, which charges 500 yen for adults and features a warm greenhouse with tropical plants, orchids, and begonias that's especially pleasant on windy or cold days.
Plan to arrive before 3pm as many shops and soba restaurants along the approach close early in the afternoon, especially on weekdays. If you want to try the famous Jindai-ji soba, aim for a lunch visit between 11am-2pm when all restaurants are open.
Take the bus from Tsutsujigaoka Station which takes about 30 minutes to reach the Jindai-ji bus stop. If you drive and eat at certain soba restaurants like Suzuya, spending over 2,000 yen on food will get your parking fee refunded.
If you want a livelier atmosphere, time your trip around the Jindai-ji Daruma Market, one of Japan's top three daruma fairs.
Pair your visit with the adjacent Jindai Botanical Garden; it sits right next to the temple on former temple land.
