Izumo Oyashiro, also called Izumo Taisha, enshrines Okuninushi-no-Kami, associated with nation building and en-musubi, the forming of bonds between people. Its origins are described in early eighth-century chronicles, and the current honden dates from the rebuilding completed in 1744.
