Hiroshima Gokoku

You can reach the shrine on foot in about 8 minutes from Kencho-mae Station on the Astram Line, and it sits inside Hiroshima Castle Park in central Hiroshima. Despite the city-center location, visitors repeatedly note that the grounds feel quiet and solemn, with a large torii gate at the entrance.

The shrine enshrines war dead and atomic bomb victims, and the rebuilt precincts date to the postwar reconstruction in 1956, with later additions such as the memorial hall. You can get a goshuin here, and the office is reported to be polite and helpful.
