Fujimoto Shrine is located in Murakami, Niigata and serves as a guardian deity shrine with ornate carvings and cultural properties throughout its grounds.
Note that you're visiting during a temporary three-year renovation period (through 2026), so the main shrine hall is not accessible.
The temporary hall's elliptical rooftop garden features living plum, cherry, and maple trees that shift in appearance with the seasons and weather.
The rooftop garden is accessible only to the deity and shrine staff as part of the spiritual design, so do not attempt to climb onto or access the planted roof.
