What makes this place special?

At a Glance

Namba is Osaka’s southern shopping and entertainment district, with food lanes and busy streets around several major rail stations. Department stores, shopping complexes and the smaller dining streets of Ura Namba give visitors different ways to explore the Minami area.

Choose a specific street or venue rather than treating the whole district as a single stop. It is useful for combining shopping with a meal or an evening out, but each restaurant, shop and performance venue has its own hours and booking arrangements. The different stations named Namba are not one interchangeable entrance, so check the railway company and exit for your destination.

Know before you go

  • Check which Namba station your route uses: Nankai, Osaka Metro, Osaka-Namba and JR Namba are different points. Choose the exit for your actual destination rather than relying on the district pin. For a different department-store and station-complex outing, consider Umeda; the Midosuji Line links the two areas. Individual bars and restaurants have their own opening and booking rules.
