What makes this place special?

At a Glance

Dotonbori is Osaka’s canal-side entertainment district, known for oversized restaurant signs and lively food streets. Around Ebisubashi, giant advertisements overlook the water, while the Tombori Riverwalk offers a different view of the district from below street level.

Restaurants and performance venues give the surrounding streets their character. This is a neighbourhood to explore on foot, rather than a single attraction: shops, theatres and cruises set their own opening times, prices and booking conditions.

Know before you go

  • Approach from Namba Station and use the canal and Ebisubashi as orientation points. Choose a specific restaurant before checking opening times or booking: there is no district-wide schedule. For photos, step out of the pedestrian flow rather than stopping across the bridge or narrow riverwalk.
