A sacred spring called Ishimizu flows from two rocks behind the bell tower and is believed to cure all illnesses. Pilgrims have sought out this healing water for centuries.

The mother of Mitsubishi's founder walked 20km to this temple daily for 21 days straight to pray for her son's success during the final years of the Tokugawa shogunate. The corporation later became a patron of the temple.

神峯寺は四国八十八箇所の第27番札所で、日本を代表する巡礼路の一寺です。

The main approach path climbs over 1km at a 45-degree slope, making this possibly the hardest temple to reach in all of Kochi Prefecture. It's considered both a nansho (difficult temple) and a spiritual barrier on the pilgrimage.
