繁多寺

Ippen Shonin, founder of the Ji-shu Buddhist sect, studied here in his youth and later returned in 1288 to dedicate his late father's precious sutras to the temple.

伝承によれば、繁多寺は8世紀に創建されたとされ、1,200年以上の歴史を持つ寺院です。

The temple once sprawled across the hillside with 36 monk cells and over 100 subsidiary temples, making it one of the largest religious complexes in the region before its decline.

繁多寺は四国八十八ヶ所霊場の一つで、日本の有名な巡礼ルートに連なるお寺です。
