Built in 1895 to commemorate Kyoto's 1,100th anniversary as capital, this Shinto shrine features a massive vermillion torii gate and recreates the Heian Palace at 5/8 scale. The expansive gardens showcase weeping cherry trees and traditional Japanese landscaping.
