宇倍神社は旧因幡国の一宮です。
Composer Akira Ifukube, famous for creating Godzilla's roar and theme music, is the grandson of the shrine's 65th-generation head priest from the hereditary Ifubuki clan.
When Toyotomi Hideyoshi attacked Tottori Castle in 1581, the shrine burned completely to ashes. It wasn't rebuilt until 1633 with help from the local daimyō.
