The shrine releases monthly limited-edition ema (prayer plaques) featuring seasonal kimono designs, including a special new tea edition made with actual Yame tea leaves woven into the paper.

The Hōjō-e Grand Festival runs for three days around the autumnal equinox in September and draws significant crowds, so if you prefer a quieter experience, visit in other months when you can move through the grounds without shoulder-to-shoulder foot traffic. Weekday mornings outside festival season offer the most peaceful atmosphere.
The shrine has a clear policy about photography and dancing in the grounds, so check their official stance before you visit if you're planning to take photos or create content.
Plan to visit in May or June if you want to collect the special seasonal stamp sheets (御朱印), which feature local Yame tea and change monthly.
If you're visiting with pets, mark your calendar for the Pet Shichigosan blessing and photo session held in November, which allows dogs and cats to receive prayers for health and protection alongside children's celebrations.
The shrine is currently undergoing restoration work on its main hall, corridors, and walls as of 2026, so expect some areas to be cordoned off or under temporary repairs.
