You can reach the shrine from three nearby stations (Kamiyacho, Toranomon Hills, and Onarimon), so route planning is flexible. Aim to arrive early in the morning or after 4pm to avoid the crowds that build on auspicious days, when the wait to reach the main hall can stretch to an hour.
The main approach climbs 86 steep stone steps known as the Stairs of Success. If that's a concern, an elevator is available. Once inside, go beyond the main hall and look for the smaller auxiliary shrines scattered around the grounds, each tied to different blessings.
Pick up an omikuji fortune slip before you leave. The messages are unusually detailed and many visitors hold onto them long after the visit.
