Auf einen Blick
Daimyo from two rival provinces (Izushi and Awa) both sent precious bronze lanterns and ornamental railings as offerings, turning this small shrine into a repository of feudal-era metalwork.
When a princess from the imperial court visited in 1727, the emperor's daughter gifted the shrine a hand-painted scroll bearing the name 'Shisho Daimyojin' that still hangs here today.

Plan your visit around the annual autumn festival on October 15th if you want to experience the shrine's main celebration, or visit on a weekday morning to have the grounds largely to yourself and better appreciate the 1981 renovations by master craftsman Wada Masaharu.
Wear comfortable walking shoes since the shrine is accessed by foot from Kinosaki Onsen Station, and consider visiting during off-peak hours to avoid the crowds that gather at the more famous onsen facilities nearby while still enjoying the spiritual significance of this 708-founded shrine.
Bring a camera but be respectful of any posted photography restrictions, as this is an active place of worship for locals who revere it as the guardian deity of the Yushima area and the ancestral shrine of Kinosaki Onsen's discovery.
The shrine sits just 700 meters northwest of Kinosaki Onsen Station, making it a natural stop while exploring the hot spring town, but note that there is no dedicated parking lot listed, so plan to either walk from the station or park in nearby town facilities.
If you're interested in shrine architecture, ask the staff about the 1981 major renovation details, as the current structure was redesigned by Wada Masaharu, a nationally recognized preserver of traditional woodworking techniques, replacing the original 1751 main hall that was destroyed in the 1925 earthquake and fire.
