A scholar exiled from the Imperial court in 901 stopped here and wrote a poem about his tears, which inspired the shrine's name: 'Tsuyu' means dew in Japanese.
The shrine was completely destroyed in WWII bombing raids in 1945, then rebuilt from scratch in 1957 as a symbol of Umeda's recovery.

Planeje uma parada rápida no meio de Umeda, pois este santuário fica a apenas alguns minutos a pé da Estação de Osaka, Umeda e Higashi-Umeda. Funciona das 6:00 às 24:00, enquanto o escritório do santuário abre das 9:00 às 18:00.
