The temple earned the prestigious three-leaf hollyhock crest of the Matsudaira family during the Edo period, a rare honor showing its importance to the feudal lords of Saijo.

On July 1st each year, believers dressed entirely in white gather here for the Oyama-biraki mountain opening ceremony, chanting 'Nammai-da' while blowing conch shells.
