To start where Kumano worship began, visit Kamikura Shrine and the Gotobiki Rock first, then come down to Hayatama Taisha.

Eating and drinking are not allowed in the grounds; drinking water in summer to prevent heatstroke is fine.

Kamikura Shrine's goshuin, talismans and amulets are handed out at Hayatama Taisha's office; goshuin are given only in person, never by post.

The grounds open 6:00 to 17:00 and the office 8:00 to 17:00. Prayer services can involve a wait during festivals, so contact the shrine ahead if your time is short.
