The Single Mountain Rite honors Mt. Miya, believed to be the tomb of the deity Ōnamuchi-no-mikoto, and happens only once every 60 years (meaning most people see it once in a lifetime, if at all).
New governors of Harima Province were required to visit this shrine to worship all the gods of the province at once, making it a one-stop divine meet-and-greet for incoming officials.
